Thought we could have a thread dedicated to the injuries receive during gradings, just to make me feel better knowing I'm not the only one sitting here in agony!
I received this grding, 2 feet with not much skin left on them, a bleedoind 3rd toe due to a stamp! A punch on th nose and a kick where no man wants to be kicked! More may follow tomorrow when the bruising comes out!

In case you are worried Barry my foot is OK. Groin guards can be purchased for £6.50, well worth the investment.

Barry I think you'll recall and possibly wince, as I do, when you remember when tibia and radius connected at speed (no, this wasn't when mythical Greek Gods fought). The result was each of us receiving egg-sized lumps; mine on my shin and yours on your forearm. This was my first ever mock grading! What an introduction.....ouch.

Yes Ronan, how could I forget. That hurt so much and when I lifted my sleeve for the first time to look at it the lump was so big that for a spilt second I thought it was broken!

Not to scare people off their black belts, but during our Kumite at my Shodan grading I walked into a kick and cracked my rib. Still had our Kata's to go through, but adrenaline was high and didn't realize the cracked rib till later. Couldn't train for some months and sitting/sleeping/standing/laughing was all extremely painful.. but nobody could take that grin off my face for passing my Shodan. 🙂

That is pretty hardcore Maurice. Sometimes I think you can be too hard for your own good!..... A quick tale from when I was training in the 80's. My last sensai was training for his sandan, during a heavy session someone tried unsuccessfully to sweep him ( well he was 6'7'' ! And 18 stone ) fafter training he had a dull ache, thinking it was only brusing he plodded on for 3 days. Until he went to the hospital and was told he had broken his fibula!

Another mock done, and surprisingly no injuries! Except for the obligatory aching and blistered feet of course. Well done to all that attended.
